Eco Tips for Climate Change

  • Look out for articles on Radio or TV about Climate Change and talk to family and friends about the subject.
  • Turn down central heating by 1°C. This is likely to cut heating bills by about 5%.
  • Try not to drive to the supermarket more than once a week, and instead walk or cycle to local shops.
  • Make sure that all electrical appliances are never left on standby and that lights are switched off in rooms you are not using and before leaving the house.
  • Buy low energy light bulbs to make sure that they are used in all rooms that are regularly used.
  • Before buying any electrical appliances, check that they are energy efficient with an A rating on the label (A+ or A++ for fridges).
  • Whenever possible, choose food that has been grown locally and in an environmentally friendly way, such as organically.
  • If you have children, make sure that they cycle or walk to school, rather than going by car.
  • Buy recycled products and re-use my old plastic carrier bags whenever you can.
