Become a Leader of the Green Team
FED UP waiting for those in power to do something to get to grips with green issues? Think you can do any better?
Dr Paul Toyne, from construction company, Bovis Lend Lease, has taken a voluntary post as a Sustainable Development Commissioner — one of a group of private and public sector experts trying to make London a greener place.
He said the challenges the Capital faced could not be solved by Government or Business alone.
‘The importance cannot be overstated of ensuring that London, its businesses, non–profit bodies and citizens can deal with the impacts of Climate Change,’ he said.
One project already launched by London Leader, Andrew Pears, involves educating builders and others in the construction industry on how to cut waste — with his presentations done in a van.
It is part of a push to make London one of the world's leading green cities by 2020. For more info., see http://www.londonsdc.org/ .
